Other Announcements CHRISTIAN CALENDAR – PENTECOST Pentecost celebrates the giving of the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete / Advocate and the birth of the Church. Coming 50 days after Easter, the season’s liturgical colour is red, symbolizing the Holy Spirit’s fire and the blood of the martyrs. Pentecost focuses on the gift and the work of the Holy Spirit, and the themes include God’s community (the Church), the gifts and fruits of the Spirit, and spreading the Gospel.
