Spiritual Formation

The Christian life is a life of ongoing inner transformation by the Holy Spirit into the likeness of Christ, thus reflecting the glory of God. This process of transformation is known as spiritual formation.

The Spiritual Formation ministry offers opportunities to learn, experience and embrace spiritual practices that help us to be open and receptive to the transforming grace of the Holy Spirit in our inner being, and, in the process, one’s relationship with God is nurtured and deepened. Some of these spiritual practices include the practice of prayer, listening to God through Scriptures, silence, solitude, faith sharing, journaling and  the practice of receiving spiritual direction.

These opportunities are offered periodically through :

  •       Spiritual formation courses
  •       Quiet Mornings and Quiet Days with the Lord
  •       Retreat in Daily Life
  •       Overnight Silent Retreats (for groups or the individual)
  •       Monthly Spiritual Direction (the practice of meeting up with a trained companion to reflect on how God is active and present in your life for the purpose of deepening one’s relationship  with God)

Look out for the above in the church bulletin.

Individuals, cell groups or ministry groups who want to make retreat days with the Lord or who is seeking spiritual direction can email their requests to pastoralcare@plmc.org

This is a ministry which helps individuals get to the root of things that are hindering their personal connection with God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Its goal is to help individuals receive the salvation, deliverance and healing especially healing in ones relationship with God so as to enable the individual to fulfil Gods given purpose. It is a gentle ministry led by the Holy Spirit and sensitively facilitated by one or two trained Facilitators in a safe environment for the individual.

When : 2nd Tuesday of every month, 7.15 – 9.30pm (except public holidays, months of Jun and Dec)

Our Brief History

Paya Lebar Methodist Church (PLMC) Covenant Kindergarten began as Covenant Nursery in 1986. PLMC Covenant Kindergarten started in 15 April 1991. It is registered with MOE and occupies the Covenant Centre at Boundary Road.

With the beautiful Sanctuary and Covenant Centre standing out at the junction of Upper Serangoon Road and Boundary Road, we hope to be a Beacon of Light to all around us. We provide a holistic, quality Christian values-based pre-school education and compassion to the neighbourhood.

Our Vision and Philosophy

We are a premier kindergarten providing Christian values and quality pre-school education. We believe that children are unique and learn best through play. Teachers and parents play an important role in children’s holistic development.

What We Offer

Value-Based Programme

As a church-run kindergarten, Christian character is taught daily and integrated in all learning areas. We believe in instilling positive values from a young age as character development from young shapes a child’s decision-making skills for the future. It is our aim to see our children grow in the capabilities and talents, along with character values.

Bilingual Core Curriculum

Both our English and Chinese teachers work in partnership in each classroom. They plan and deliver lessons in a bilingual environment. This provides children with exposure to both languages, facilitating language acquisition at young age.

Play-Based Curriculum

Our curriculum integrates play as a way of learning. Through play, children can develop their exploratory, social and cognitive skills that makes learning both fun and enjoyable.

Signature Music Appreciation Programme

We are proud to offer our signature music appreciation programme* as part of our specially-designed curriculum. Exposure to music supports children in their development process. Our trained teachers are experienced in integrating music activities into learning areas to purposefully develop confidence and music appreciation in your child.

* The Enhanced Methodist Music Appreciation (EMMA) Programme is developed by music specialists from Methodist preschools, as well as the Methodist School of Music.

Caring & Committed Teachers

Our teachers are caring, nurturing and committed to early childhood education.  We believe in bringing the best out of each child as he/she is precious and unique with different talents and gifts. Our teachers also seek to work in partnership with parents in bringing the best positive learning outcomes, through updates and regular feedback on the child’s progress.

Spacious Premises

Covenant Kindergarten is co-located at Paya Lebar Methodist Church. Our facilities, set within the grounds of a beautiful church compound, comprises spacious ground-level classrooms, outdoor playground, indoor play area and open spaces.

Easy Access

Our premises are easily accessible by car, school bus or public transport. Drop off and pick up is hassle-free with ample parking.

Healthy Meals

Covenant Kindergarten is certified as a Health Promoting Preschools by the Health Promotion Board. We promote healthy eating among our children as part of their holistic development, serving balanced with nutritious meals which are also tasty.
