1. Welcome to the PLMC family! Can you introduce yourself and your family please?

Hello PLMC family! My name is Simon Lam. Before full-time ministry, I was in the IT-related field, with a focus on cybersecurity.

I am married to Wendy who works in the F&B industry. We have only one son who will be 15 in October and he currently in Secondary Three. We live in Marine Parade, and our home church is Christ Methodist Church.

I look forward to serving alongside with you all and to learn from you.

2. What three words describe you best?

Generous, industrious and loyal.

3. What are pivotal moments in your faith journey?

My pivotal moment would definitely be taking that bold step of faith to follow God’s calling for me into full-time ministry, which I had largely given up on for many years of my life. I took a step of faith and I experienced God’s grace and mercy and provision in this part of my faith journey. The last three to four years have certainly shaped me in ways that I could never have imagined.

4. What is your favourite Bible verse and why?

My favorite verse is Lamentations 3:22-23: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Not only is it a song that we can sing but it also absolutely encapsulates who and what God is in my own personal faith journey. It also speaks, in larger context, of God’s faithfulness and compassion even in times of great difficulty and suffering.

5. Who is your favourite Bible character and why?

My favourite Bible character would be Abraham. He demonstrates faith in the character of God and had absolute trust in God to provide and fulfil His covenant and keep His promises.

6. What is your hope/vision for your season here at PLMC?

As a new pastor, I really hope to contribute in whatever ways I can to help the PLMC family go deeper in their walk with God and to go further in their discipleship with God. I hope to be a partner in the different seasons of life to encourage everyone to spiritual maturity.

7. What are your favourite hobbies and ways to rest and recharge?

One of my favourite pastimes is to play basketball, it’s great way to de-stress for me and to build bonds with friends. If I am not playing basketball, I am either reading a book or watching some K-drama.

8. PLMC is a family who loves our food. What is your favourite cuisine or dish?

I am a simple guy when it comes to food and my favourite dish would be a good plate of chicken rice.

9. Foodie quiz: Which do you prefer – Coffee, tea or bubble tea? Chocolate or vanilla? Meat or vegetables? Cafe or kopitiam or hawker centre? Rice or noodles?

Coffee. Chocolate. Meat. Café. Noodles.

10. How can PLMC members support you in prayer?

Well, it’s a new season and a new beginning for me here at PLMC. I would request that PLMC members continue to pray for God’s protection and provision for my family. And that I would endeavour to accomplish what God has brought me to PLMC to do.
